Hello my name is Carl Thompson, I am 36 years old, I have 2 children age 13 and 4. I live near Brigden on my family's hobby farm, we raise sheep some chickens and I also started a honey bee business. I'm looking at eventually taking over the farm to keep it in the family name.

I currently work at Envirosystem division of Terrapure working as a vac truck driver. I am also apart of the joint health and safety for the last 10 years.

I am 3rd generation volunteers for Moore Agriculture Society home of the Brigden Fair, since I could walk.

I have been a Board Director and held chairman shop position on the Moore Agriculture Society and helped on other committees where needed.

Chris Courtis

I was born and raised in Sarnia and my wife, Nicole and I have raised 3 amazing kids in Sarnia. I work for Christian Horizons and Spectrum Wireless and try and stay as active in the community as possible.

I have been a member of a credit union for over 15 years and can honestly say that it has been an amazing experience. The credit union has been a foundation of support for building my credit rating. Because of this I am a proud home owner and have a solid financial plan for my future. This has also been an excellent example for my children that have seen the benefits of being a member of a credit union.

I have been a member of Southwest Regional Credit Union for over 3 years and when I had the opportunity to be part of the Board of Directors 2 years ago I jumped at the chance. Since I was elected, I have learned and been part of helping the credit union progress. The management team and my fellow board members have been simply amazing. I have acquired my certification and completed all required training in order for me to be the best board member possible.

I am truly thankful to be part of such a great credit union and hope that I may continue to be part of the board for many years to come.

Dan Peters

I've grown up in the Sarnia area, starting in Corunna, and now in Bright's Grove. I've been a lifelong member of the Credit Union and appreciate the culture of a community-oriented financial institution.

Over the last 22 years at NOVA Chemicals, including the last six years in a leadership role, my experience in IT has reinforced the importance of thinking about how our work will affect our customers. I look forward to bringing my experience in the business world to help our Board make the right decisions for our Membership.

From a personal perspective, my favourite times are those spent outdoors with my family, whether hiking at the Pinery, or summer holidays in Sauble Beach. To keep my batteries charged, trips to Algonquin Park , or other Northern Ontario destinations hit the spot!

I look forward to the opportunity to learn about our Credit Union's business, and to help our Credit Union better serve our Members.

-Dan Peters

Ian Sparling

My name is Herbert Ian Sparling, age 72, having submitting my name for a position on the board of the Southwest Regional Credit Union you should know my background.

I was raised on a dairy farm in St. Marys. Upon finishing high school, I apprenticed and became a licence Auto Body repairer. Spent 28 years as a sewer of seat covers for American Motors, Chrysler, until retirement. I have also served as a taxi driver and now am a volunteer driver for LEO.

The hobby I enjoy the most is Amateur Radio. I am at present the secretary of St. Marys Amateur Radio Club.

I am a member of the Lambton County Radio Club. Had some experience as CEO of Canadian Quill Enterprises.

I hope that this gives an incite of my various areas of ability.

-Many thanks, Ian Sparling

Darren Henderson

My name is Darren Henderson. I am happily married to my beautiful wife Maria. We have four amazing children. Our older daughter and son are in the workforce with homes of their own. Our younger daughter is away attending Brock University while our younger son is attending Lambton College. We have been fortunately blessed with beautiful two grand-daughters and one handsome grand-son.

I am seeking my second term as your representative on our Credit Union’s Board of Directors. I am a Registered Practical Nurse by profession at Bluewater Health in Sarnia, having worked primarily on the in-patient surgical unit but have also successfully completed certification as an Operating Room Technician. Although I did work as a scrub nurse for a period, my greatest satisfaction is working directly with clients, helping them to regain their independence and provide quality healthcare teaching for their return home. At this time, I work in the Emergency Department and am involved in a pilot project called the Short Stay Transition Unit. This area is designed to decrease wait times for clients admitted from the Emergency Department, allowing for a more comfortable transition to the Medical, Surgical or Mental Health units.

I am involved on several committees at Bluewater Health representing both clients and their families as well as the employees, acting as Vice Co-Chair of the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, RPN Division Committee and Fiscal Action Committee. As a member of the Service Employees International Union, I represent our members as one of their Union Stewards where I am also part of the Staffing and Labour Committees.

Three years ago, I was fortunate enough to be selected to represent our Credit Union members as one of your representatives on the Board of Directors. While it was a steep learning curve in the beginning for myself, being mostly involved in healthcare, I greatly appreciated this exciting opportunity. Provided with outstanding training and education; excellent mentorship and support from the existing board members; the easily approachable, always understanding and supportive CEO we all enjoy in Tony, has allowed myself to feel confidently proactive representing our Credit Union members. All board members share responsibility between the various committees, for which I am involved with the Executive, Governance, Future Direction and CEO Evaluation committees as well as Chair of the Personnel Committee. It has also been a privilege to help re-introduce our Credit Unions’ Student Bursary to both members and non-members attending post-secondary education helping promote Southwest Regional Credit Union and support our community.

Please consider my continued participation representing you and our community on your Board of Directors for the Southwest Regional Credit Union.
